About Hatsurewhim.info

Installing random programs and apps of questionable quality that originate from obscure sources is bound to sooner or later land you something unwanted. It could be an adware app, a browser hijacker or even some actual malware threat like a Trojan or maybe a file-encrypting Ransomware. In the present article, we will be focusing on a software piece known as Hatsurewhim.info which is yet another potentially unwanted application that you may get installed if you aren’t careful with the software that you download and the sources you use to download it. This is a browser hijacker application and one of its abilities is to swarm your browser with invasive advertising messages and page-redirects. Another thing this app can do is impose its custom search engine on your browser and maybe even add a new homepage address. Normally, this could be seen in Firefox and Chrome but other browsers like IE, Edge and Safari are also not immune against the effects of a browser hijacker. This is also why it would be an ineffective solution if you try and switch to a new browser as it will most likely also get infected by Hatsurewhim.info.

How Dangerous is Hatsurewhim.info ?

Though we use the word “infected” when talking about this hijacker, it should be noted that this app isn’t really a virus. There are many differences between Ransomware infections, virus programs and other nasty forms of malware such as Rootkits and Trojans on the one hand and browser hijackers on the other. While there is no doubt that the invasive ads and the unwelcome alteration sin the browser can be highly frustrating and may sometimes even increase the chances of a real malware infection, the actual purpose of Hatsurewhim.info and other similar app has little to do with harming your computer. Instead, the things that the creators of such software are after is marketing revenue. The ads displayed by the hijackers are basically tools of revenue generation. The clicks that users make on these ads are what earns money for the hijacker’s creators on the basis of the Pay Per Click remuneration model. Another similar model is the Pay Per View – in this case, money is gained based on how many visits a certain site gets which is exactly the reason apps like Hatsurewhim.info, www1.ecleneue.com, Txtnews.online may also try to directly redirect you to the sites that they seek to promote without you having clicked on anything.

Obviously, it is not particularly pleasant to have a hijacker in the midst of your system due to the intrusiveness of the ads. However, a more important reason to uninstall Hatsurewhim.info is the fact that it may be risky to have its ads shown in your browser. Most computer users know that Ransomware threats as well as Trojans, Spyware and other viruses oftentimes get linked to within different misleading web ads. And, since you don’t normally get to have any control over the advertising content that a hijacker shows you, you really cannot be too trusting of the ads it generates, which is why uninstalling this app is the safer option.
